Neuropsychologists are clinical psychologists who specialize in brain function – the complex relationship between the physical brain and the human behaviors including cognitive functioning that result. For those who have sustained a concussion, a neuropsychological evaluation is a critical part of the evaluation and assessment stage, as it can identify subtle signs of cognitive dysfunction that can play a significant role in the recovery process.
The neuropsychologists at the Weill Cornell Concussion and Brain Injury Clinic conduct initial assessments on concussion and TBI patients, make recommendations to help guide recovery, and provide follow-up treatments in cognitive remediation/rehabilitation.
